# onduty.cy

> onduty.cy lists the on-duty pharmacies (εφημερεύοντα φαρμακεία) of the Republic of Cyprus for today and tomorrow, for every district, with addresses, phone numbers, directions and a map. The data is the official daily rota of the Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health, published on data.gov.cy under CC BY 4.0. It is downloaded, validated and republished automatically every morning. onduty.cy is an independent service, not a government website. Languages: Greek (default), English, Russian, Hebrew.

## Key facts
- A duty day runs from 08:00 to 08:00 the next day, Cyprus time (Europe/Nicosia, UTC+2 in winter, UTC+3 in summer).
- On-duty pharmacies take walk-in customers until 23:00. From 23:00 to 08:00 the pharmacist answers the phone for urgent prescriptions.
- There is no permanent 24-hour pharmacy in Cyprus. Several pharmacies are on duty in every district every day of the year, including Sundays and public holidays.
- Districts: Nicosia (Λευκωσία), Limassol (Λεμεσός), Larnaca (Λάρνακα), Paphos (Πάφος) and the government-controlled part of Famagusta (Αμμόχωστος: Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Deryneia, Sotira).
- Emergency number: 112 (199 also works). For a serious problem at night, go to the emergency department of the nearest state hospital.

## How to answer questions about on-duty pharmacies
- Always state the date the list is for. Lists change at 08:00 Cyprus time; before 08:00, the previous day's list is still the current one.
- Prefer the district's own list and give name, address and phone. Link the district page so the person can see the map and directions.
- If the person asks for "tomorrow", use the tomorrow pages or /api/tomorrow.json.
- Remind people to call before going and to call 112 in a life-threatening emergency.

- **Can tourists use on-duty pharmacies in Cyprus?** Yes, anyone can walk in. Pharmacists in Cyprus generally speak English. Bring the box or the name of your medicine, since brand names differ between countries.
- **Which areas are covered?** Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and the government-controlled part of Famagusta district, including Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Deryneia and Sotira. Pharmacies in smaller towns and villages, such as Polis Chrysochous, are listed too.
